Lot Purchases and Interments
Although in active use for more than 260 years, there are still lots available in the Onslow Island Cemetery for interment. The table below outlines the fees for plots and interments. For more details, please consult the Onslow Cemetery’s Policies and Procedures.

Payable directly by the family to the member of the Grounds Team (cash preferred) for marking, opening and closing the site for the cremated remains
Payable directly by the family to the member of the Grounds Team (cash or preferred) for marking and flagging the location for the burial
Only members of the Cemetery’s Grounds Team are authorized to mark and flag interment sites.
Family members are responsible to purchase and pay for installment of a headstone or stone marker within 12 months of the burial. Installation must be done by professionals in the monument business. Please refer to the full Policies and Procedures document for specific details pertaining to the headstones.
Please contact the Grounds Team (onslowislandcemetery@gmail.com ) to mark the position for the stone before installation is scheduled.
Cremation markers with a flat level surface flush to the ground must be placed at each cremation site. Purchase can be arranged via onslowislandcemetery@gmail.com .
Crusher dust is available on the north side of the cemetery for family members to use to place around the edges of the cremation markers annually or as needed, to deter weed growth.
Please Note:
Please submit your requests at least 4 days before the requested interment. Our team of volunteers all have full-time jobs and do the cemetery work in their off-hours.
Payment is accepted in cheque or cash. A record of the Lot and a receipt for payment will be issued by the Ground Team member at the time of purchase.
